About IDSPEC
IDSPEC publishes passport and visa photo requirements taken from the issuing authority's own page, with the date each figure was checked.
Why this exists
Most photo-requirement pages copy each other. Once a wrong number enters that chain it never leaves, and the applicant only finds out at the counter. Three examples we ran into while building this site:
- A widely repeated “51 × 51 mm” figure for Indian passport photos turned out to belong to the visa instructions, not the passport ones.
- A “45 × 55 mm” figure for Bangladesh appears across the commercial web. We could not find it in a single government source.
- Several countries do not ask you for a photo at all — you are photographed at the counter — yet the same sites still sell you print sizes for them.
How a figure gets onto this site
- Government sources only. Commercial photo sites and forums are used to find a lead, never as the source of a number.
- Every row carries the date we checked it and a link to the page we read.
- Where two official pages disagree, both are shown. We do not pick a winner and hide the other.
- What we could not verify is listed as unverified rather than filled in with a plausible value.
- A build gate refuses to publish a row that has no source or no checked date.
What this site is not
It is not an approval, and it is not affiliated with any government or immigration authority. Requirements change without notice. Before you submit, check the authority's own page — every one of ours is linked.
